Career in National Defence Academy-NDA

The National Defence Academy (NDA) is the Joint Services academy of the Indian Armed Forces, where cadets of the three services, the Army, the Navy and the Air Force train together before they go on to pre-commissioning training in their respective service academies. NDA exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
Recruitment of candidates to Army, Navy and Air force wings of the National Defence Academy (NDA), is through National Defence Academy Entrance Exam which is held twice a year, generally in the month of April and September. They earn Rs.21000 as stiffened. After completing three years training in pune, they will obtain a degree from JNTU in B.Sc/ B.Sc IN computer science/ B.A. after that trade training is given and their career starts in Indian army leftant. And navy candidates can start their career as sub leftant and those who selected air force start their career flying officer. Their starting salary will be Rs.45000 after all the allowances.  A candidate must be an unmarried male. The course of training is for three years. They continue in the post as captain, major, carnal, brigade. They can grow to the stage of Chief of army staff, admiral, and air chief marshal.

Process

Selection board : UPSC
Notification : twice a year (October, March)
Exam : in April and august.
Selection process : based on written exam, interview, strength and medical tests.
Educational Qualification : Candidates must have Completed 10+2.
Age : 16 ½ – 19 years.
Fees : Candidates must pay a registration fee of Rs. 100/- in any branch of SBI or by using net banking facility of SBI or bank affiliates. The rate will apply to the SC / ST candidates and children JCO / NCO / OR.

NDA Exam Pattern

The entrance for National Defense Academy comprises of a Written Exam followed by and Intelligence and Personality Test. The details follow:

  • The papers in all the subjects consist of Objective (multiple choice answer) Type questions only.
  • Question Papers of Paper I – Mathematics and Part B of Paper II will be set in English and Hindi.
  • SI units will be used in the papers and Candidates should use only International form of Indian numerals (i.e. 1,2,3,4,5,6 etc.) while answering question papers.
  • Commission have discretion to fix qualifying marks in any or all the subjects of the examination.
  • Candidates are not permitted to use calculators for answering objective type papers (Test Booklets).

Tips for NDA Entrance Exam:

  •  Mathematics is important exam so study from 11th and 12th text books.
  •  In Biology have a look into chapters of disease and causes, animal world and plant anatomy.
  •  Do good practice of Psychological test such as association test (W.A.T), Thematic appreciation test (T.A.T), Situation Reaction Test (S.R.T), Self Descriptions (S. D) etc, many books are available related to it you can also take help of internet.
  •  For history, science and geography study 10th textbooks.
  •  Practice to solve NDA exam papers in given duration.
  •  Remember it is better to understand concepts in spite of learning.
  •  For such exams student’s intelligence, self confidence and their ability to make a decision in difficult situations helps them to keep their mind cool and little bit mistake may ruin your hard work.
  •  Keenly study each and every word of NCERT Textbooks of class 11th and 12th.
  •  In physics pay attention in electro mechanism, magnetism and thermodynamics.
  •  In chemistry pay attention in chemical analysis, inorganic compound, periodic table, equilibrium etc.
  •  For better marks in English practice grammar, reading and writing.
